Welcome to CPDU University. We look forward to getting to know you and providing you with the opportunity to give and receive interesting, innovative and exciting professional development activities.
As educators we all have had and seen great successes we wish to share with other teachers. Often we seek to learn or teach more about what has proven successful by participating in professional development in a relaxed environment with other educators . What educators learn in the classroom, and the successes they achieve, are often much more valuable than what can be directed through a hierarchical approach using a top-down administrative model. Decentralized knowledge is key to a free market economy and very beneficial to heirarchical organizations such as public education. Great ideas catch fire and spead. They are more powerful than bureaucracies because they expand without limit. Ideas are behind all the choices we make and can transform the world in ways governments and armies can not. With ideas we can make positive changes to society that will last.
Our fully accredited program uses ISBE certified Professional Development Providers who can provide you with the information and knowledge you need to foster success in classroom teaching and learning.
As programs, staff and in-services are being cut back by school systems due to budgetary concerns, this does not negate the ISBE requirements for regular classroom teachers to obtain 120 CPDUs, or the equivalent in CEUs, over the 5-year recertification cycle. It is with this in mind that we have instituted our program.
Our goal is to provide teachers with the maximum opportunities for professional development activities that are convenient, affordable and interesting. Our mission is to build confidence and competence in teachers so they can foster a life-long love of learning thereby giving students a solid foundation for a healthy, happy and productive life.
Our experienced teachers, staff and providers are dedicated to helping each teacher maximize his or her unique potential both academically and as instructors.
We invite you to learn more about us and to visit one of our professional development offerings soon. Our classes are free and we ask you to bring a friend. As this program is just kicking off, we are seeking individuals who would like to be professional development providers to get the ball rolling faster, so to speak.
While nothing is free and there is no free lunch, we do ask you for one thing. Please consider conducting your own professional development through CPDU University just once to pay it back. We will coordinate with you and help you with our network of facilities to prepare your professional development if you are interested.
We work to keep our instructor-student ratio low to keep the professional development exciting, interactive, informal, but collegial.

CPDU University, in association with the Midwest Consortium for Curriculum and Instruction, has developed this website for the purpose of listing professional development conferences, lectures, workshops and in-services to allow providers the opportunity to get the word out regarding their offerings. It is also a place where such listings are published so educators can obtain information on professional development activities for personal enrichment and to satisfy ISBE requirements for continuing professional development. Best of all, the classes are free!
